The talented Venica family are of Slovenian origin and, with the Slovenian border less than 1.9km away, this will come as no revelation. The estate is located in the Dolegna district of Collio in the Friuli region in the north-eastern corner of Italy. They farmed a traditional and classic Azienda Agricola with horses, cows and vineyards together with a trattoria for many generations in this stunning river valley location. Now also a superb agriturismo hotel, the estate is run by brothers Gianni and Giorgio – along with recent arrival Giampaolo, Gianni’s son – and since the 1980’s they have become deadly serious about their wine-making.
