So, with each vintage in the Rioja region, Johnny Hartwright gets together with his good friend and winemaker, Oscar Alegre (whose own wine we also import). The two of them spend a couple of days at the family-owned Bodegas La Eralta, just outside the town of Agoncillo, tasting, tasting, tasting. From all this research, the pair choose a wine to be aged for a year in oak, a Crianza. When Johnny alerted us to this process, we said “send us a sample”. In one fell swoop, our search for the elusive Decorum Rioja was at an end. Job done: we realised that we were in the hands of two extremely capable vignerons, and there was no need to look elsewhere.
