Region Profile
Region
Loire
The stunning Loire Valley delivers more variety than almost anywhere in France. From the western edges, around Nantes, come the dry whites of Muscadet. Moving eastwards, the Chenin Blanc grape delivers dry, medium-dry, and glorious sweet whites (all Vouvray!), plus sparkling bottles in the form of Crémant. Meanwhile, reds (Bourgeuil, Chinon) abound from the Cabernet Franc. Finally, in the east, Sauvignon Blanc takes centre stage with Sancerre and Pouilly-Fumé.
