Producer Profile

Louis Chenu, Pere Et Filles
There’s a most distinguished member of the British wine trade who has a house in the village of Savigny. Luckily for Decorum, he specialises in the wines of Champagne. Consequently, when Juliette Chenu was quizzing him about the possibilities of her family wine in the UK market, he was unable to help directly…instead, he kindly steered her towards Decorum, and Decorum to Chenu.
The very first parcels of vines were purchased in 1914…not the most ideal time to start up, with the world headed into an almighty conflict. But vignerons are nothing if not hardy, and the domaine now thrives. While Juliette oversees the commercial side of things, it is sister Caroline who focuses on all things wine. They have now converted to bio-dynamic principles. Always difficult to judge whether it is this factor that enables quality to soar, but as long as quality is going in that direction, is there any great need to examine too closely? Wines are wonderful, job done.
