Piedmont
History, scenery, culture, food, and, of course, wine…Piedmont/Piemonte has it all. Although home to one of Italy’s best whites, Gavi di Gavi, it is the lesser known Arneis that is drunk by the Piemontese. And for red, they glug Dolcetto and Barbera, leaving the great bottles of Barolo and Barbaresco (made from the Nebbiolo grape) to be aged for 6-10 years before the corks get pulled. Exciting times, here, as a new generation of winemakers now strive for the finest quality possible.
