Bordeaux
There’s only one Bordeaux, isn’t there? Still the benchmark, and names like Latour, Margaux, Haut-Brion, and Pétrus resonate with drinkers everywhere. But it’s important to note that it’s not just about the ‘bling’ – indeed, the top estate make up a tiny proportion of the region’s production. Away from the fairy tale châteaux, thousands of small growers also work their magic, making excellent (and improving) whites, as well as the reds that the British came to call ‘claret’.
Producer Profile

Château Le Coteau
Chateau le Coteau is one of the few remaining family owned properties in Margaux. Eric's close to nature approach to his wine creates the best expression of the Margaux terroir.
Château le Coteau is one of the last family properties of the famous Margaux appellation. Today Eric cultivates his ancestors ground with passion and humility. The vines are grown in some of finest soils in the médoc in the Margaux region. Most of the plots are bordered by prestigious Grands Crus Classés. The soil is composed by gravel left by the Garonne river millions of years ago. These gravely soils are composed of pebbles and little stones originating from the Pyrénées. These soils are warm, poor in nutriments and very draining which suits the vines perfectly, helping the grapes mature. This terroir would be nothing without the Garonne micro-climate influence. Nature has found its place amongst the Château le Coteau vines. No herbicides or insecticides have ever been used and the plough allows the fauna and the flora to flourish.
